5 Amazing Dinosaur Discoveries in Asia You Should Know About

Dinosaurs are one of the wonders of the world that have gone extinct but still leaves man in awe when the bones are discovered. Over the years there have been discoveries in different parts of the world with Asia being one of the top sites of discoveries.

In this short article, we would look at the various dinosaur discoveries that have been found around Asia.

Abrosaurus (Delicate Lizard)

This dinosaur is stated to have lived during the Middle Jurassic Period and was found at the Dashanpu Quarry in the Sichuan Province of China.

It was referred to as delicate Lizard because of the nature of its skull which possessed large openings separated by thin bony struts and it was herbivorous in nature.

Achillobator (Achilles Hero)

This dinosaur is from the family of Large dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaurs. These species lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period. With heavily built bodies, this carnivore would have been an active predator. It is recorded that since its discovery no more specimens have been found.

According to records, this dinosaur was estimated to be 5 to 6 m (16 to 20 ft) long with an enlarged, sickle-shaped claw on the second toe.

Agilisaurus (Agile Lizard)

This is from a family of ornithischian dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic Period of what is now eastern Asia. It was about 3.5–4 ft (1.2–1.7 m) long, 2 ft (0.6 m) in height, and 40 kg in weight. It had leaf-shaped teeth well-adapted to their abrasive, plant-based diets.

Albinykus (Albin claw)

From a family of alvarezsaurid dinosaur. Its fossils were found from Late Cretaceous-age with deposits in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia.

It is estimated to weigh under 1 kilogram in weight, as it was one of the smallest alvarezsaurs and among the smallest non-avian dinosaurs. It is also recorded that their body size decreased throughout evolutionary history.

Alectrosaurus (Alone Lizard)

The alone lizard comes from a family of tyrannosaur theropod dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period, what is now called the Iren Dabasu Formation that is now the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China.

With a moderately built body, this dinosaur was estimated at 5 to 6m (16 to 20 ft). It was a very fast running tyrannosaur as indicated by its elongated hind limbs.

Even though they are all extinct we are still fascinated by these creatures, we hope you enjoyed your read as much as we loved writing it…
