In the 1900s, there were two dominant taxi companies in Chicago, Checker Taxi, and Yellow Cab Company. Checker Taxi became the first cab company to hire African-American drivers and first to require that drivers pick up all fares, not just European-American ones. Yellow Cab Company was sold to Parmelee Transportation Company which made Parmelee, which includes Yellow Cab and Checker Taxi, the largest cab company in the United States in 1940. This is a 1933 Checkered Model T Taxi. This model is about 14 inches long and 6 inches wide, 1:8 scale. The great size for a nice desktop decoration. This model is such an iconic piece, nealy anyone will recognize it as the taxi with its signature. The taxi has a very antique feel the way it was fabricated. It may be a model of something but it unique without a doubt.
